Read any good books lately?
Welcome to Talkin’ About Thursdays! Today we’re talking about good reads.
I’m a firm believer that you never outgrow picture books.
I love them, and so do my kids.
And there’s one picture book I recently reviewed for the Sacramento Book Review that I thought was especially magical:
All the World, written by Liz Garton Scanlon and illustrated by Marla Frazee, is one of those books that, when you first pick it up, you want to hug it.
It’s that beautiful.
And when you open it and start reading, you want to hug it even more.
The book follows different families throughout their day, showing how their lives interconnect and cross paths…
children climb a tree while their grandpa watches,
families shop at the farmer’s market,
people spend time together, reading, laughing, and eating.
One of my favorite things about this book is the way it celebrates relationships, families, and the big and small details of life.
“Nanas, papas, cousins, kin
Piano, harp, and violin
Babies passed from neck to knee
All the world is you and me.” -from All the World
The writing is beautiful,
and the illustrations are gorgeous.
This book is a keepsake. :)
What about you? Have you read any good books lately?

Sounds cute. I don't remember the kids books I read, for the most part, but there are some really beautiful ones out there.
Hi! Thanks for letting me link up today. I wrote about the book "Stuff Christians Like," which technically isn't out yet…but I know it's going to be good given the writer's blog!
I just read Redemption by Karen Kingsbury and it was amazing!! I already posted today but I will be joining you from now on on Thursday!!
didn't do a blog today – but the last good book i read was ted dekker's green. i'm going to do a review on it shortly, just have to get my stuff together.
I didn't get around to doing a post today (sigh) but my 5yo daughter has just gotten interested in me reading chapter books to her and I'm loving it. We started with Winnie the Pooh (which is so hard to read and I'm glad to be done with) and are now almost done with Mary Poppins. The book you reviewed sounds great. I just requested it from the library.
I love good books. Really good books. Books with good writing and good thoughts! I am so picky about what I let my children get from the library because I think even children's books should be of excellent quality. That being said, we are really into Cynthia Rylant's writing right now. She has such a diverse style and each book is so delightfully different.
It sounds like a beautiful book! I just bookmarked it on Amazon.I completely agree with you, by the way. You can never outgrow picture books. And if you do, that is a sad, sad thing [email protected]
