I loved laughing with you last week. Thanks for joining in!

And I’m looking forward to hearing about the goals you’re working on this year.

After you write your post and link back here (you can copy my button above), add your link to the list below. Then have some fun stopping by each other’s sites, and be sure to comment while you’re there.

Here are a few things I’m working on:

1. I recently saw an interview on the news that really impacted me. The woman being interviewed had been trapped under rubble in Haiti for five days, in a kneeling position.

She had no food, no water, and could see only darkness.

When the interviewer asked the woman what got her through the ordeal, she answered that her faith did. She shared that every time she felt like giving up, she would pray one of the Psalms out loud and she’d be filled with hope again (she had many of them memorized).

That did it for me.

I love the Psalms; they’re filled so many real emotions and promises. But I only have a few of them memorized. So after hearing that interview, I decided this year I’m going to memorize as many as I can. That woman’s faith was inspiring and beautiful, and I’d love to have those verses and promises of hope committed to my memory too.

2. Another goal I’m working on is finishing my middle grade novel. I’ve been feverishly revising and polishing it and I just got my final version to my writing group so they can critique it. After that, I’ll have another round of edits, then I’ll be sending it out for consideration. Wish me luck!

3. I also want (and I just decided this last week because I found myself in another cooking rutto get more creative with cooking and meals. Dinner has been a little challenging lately with my daughter having swim team every night right around dinner time, but we’re adjusting. And now that my picky eater has seemed to have outgrown that phase (yes, it does get better!), I want to be more adventurous in the kitchen. Any cooking websites, blogs, or cookbooks you can recommend would be appreciated!

Looking forward to hearing some of the goals you’re working on!

  1. Wonderful goals! And if you are into eating healthier without compromising on taste I highly recommend The Sue Gregg Cookbooks. Not only does she have delicious recipes but she has a wealth of information in each of her cookbooks! Good luck with you goals! KimP.S. I love the Psalms too!

  2. That is a really powerful story about the woman in Haiti… I am so glad that God is being glorified in so many stories…. and glad she got the Word in her heart!!!Blessings-Amanda

  3. Thanks, everyone. And, I will definitely check out the cookbook and crockpot recipe site! Crockpot recipes would actually be perfect right now with our schedule; I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks!

  4. I would love, love, love to write children's books and devotionals for women. I am just now starting to practice writing on a regular basis. I love how you said in a previous post, "all you have to do is start writing and you are a writer." So I guess I am one. My goal then is to become a good one.

  5. The Psalms have always been my favorite. Perhaps it's because I am a Psalmist…so I've been told.

  6. SoCalFrugal – thanks for the recipe link; I'm going to check that out!And Jen, you already are a good one. The posts over at your blog are all inspiring and great! :)

  7. I need to finish my book! That's my goal! :-)What a cool story about that lady. Makes me want to go memorize some psalms!I hope you finish your book and make some amazing dinners this weekend. :-)

  8. Great goals for this year!! As far as cooking websites I like getting recipes from the parents magazine website… they have creative dishes for families and some suggestions on how to introduce new and healthier foods.
