I don’t do play dates anymore
The other day, my son said he was bored.
“Why don’t you have a friend over for a play date,” I suggested.
“Mom,” he said, looking at me very seriously, “I don’t do play dates anymore. It’s called hanging out.”
And while I laughed as he corrected me, it made me a little sad inside…
Sad that my ten year old–my baby–is now too old to have play dates.

Is anyone else dealing with the same thing? What age were your kids when they stopped doing play dates? :)
I, too, have had this same conversation. I've learned now that Parker is 12 to suggest he have a friend over to "hang out". I've caught myself on several occasions saying, "Why don't you go see if X wants to pla….hang out?" It's bittersweet, isn't it? Watching our little boys turn into young men.Peace and blessings to your day.Jeanine
Thank goodness I still have one more small one who wants to have friends over to play. I hope these years slow down a little.
Hello ~waving at you~ I to have a 10 year old son & he has made it clear to me that he isn't a baby anymore. He doesn't want me picking out his clothes, he has an opinion about everything, he thinks he is too cool to play with his siblings & he now wants a cell phone (which I am not ready to give him yet). My son is a really good kid, it is just shocking at how he is slowly leaving me behind. No more mommy kisses before bed, I have to kiss him while he is sound asleep lol.
The snuggling has stopped! No more playdates! And clothing?!!?I'm having withdrawal!
