A fun way to spend the day at Lake Tahoe

A few weeks ago, my friends and I spent a girls’ weekend at Lake Tahoe. (We all live in different cities and it’s a tradition we have to get together every year.)
It was so fun to see each other, catch up, and relax! One of the things we did was rent bikes near Squaw Valley at this cute little bike shop:

Then we rode them along the river…
(me, Amy, Lisa, Christine)
to Sunnyside on North Shore, where we had lunch:

(me, Christine, Amie, Amy, and Lisa)

The view of Lake Tahoe was gorgeous:

And the whole day was a blast. (It was about a 14-mile ride, so not only was it beautiful, it was a good workout too.)
It was so much fun that Mike and I went back to Tahoe last weekend while the kids were at Grandma and Grandpa’s and did the same ride…
The weather was just as great.
And the views were just as gorgeous…

Definitely a fun way to spend the day in Tahoe. :)

What about you? Have you been to Lake Tahoe? What trips are you going on this summer?

  1. I love Tahoe, both shores!!!! Wouldn't it be great to live there? I haven't biked there but really want to!

  2. I love Lake Tahoe! I haven't been there in awhile but I can always recognize it in a photo – almost smell the pine. No lake is so deep blue. I had to check and see if any of my friends from Sacramento were in your photo! You are so lucky to go there twice.

  3. Luckily I get to live here. Went for a great mountain bike ride today and really looking forward to 4th of July here! I have the pleasure of working with kids during the day, taking them on hikes, teaching them to stand up paddle board and playing all kinds of beach games. (While their parents are out enjoying themselves too). Not a bad situation. And it never gets too hot here!

Beautiful pictures! And how fun to go on two getaways to such a lovely place.

  5. Perfect timing. We're going there next month for our nephews birth. Do you have any recommendations for family activities? Which beach is good for toddlers? Looks like a wonderful time.

  6. It is so gorgeous! I always long to go there especially during the hot Texas summers. I grew up in Vail and it is beautiful there too, also another great place to get away from the Texas heat!

  7. I've hard Lake Tahoe is gorgeous and your pictures certainly prove that! Great shots!

  8. Never been to Tahoe. I've ridden in one though. =) Stunning photos. What a blessing to spend time with the ladies. And then again with your husband!~Mimi @ Woven by Words

  9. I have never been to Lake Tahoe, but I want to now. Great pics! I have always wanted to rent a bike and explore a place but never have. You have inspired me!

  10. Oh my word! Genny, this reminds me of my honeymoon!!! My hubby planned our whole honeymoon and one of our stops was Lake Tahoe. I loved it. I'll never forget how gorgeous the lake is. It's so crystal blue. It really is as pretty in real life as it is on postcards. And we also rented bikes and did a bike ride like that. I remember it was about 13 – 15 miles (ONE WAY!) so yes, it was a great workout. I don't remember feeling like it was that much of a workout because the scenery was so beautiful.Glad you got to catch up with your friends. It's always wonderful to relax and rejuvenate with the girls. How fun!

  11. Beautiful photos! I've never been to Tahoe but you make me want to go see it in person.

It looks absoutely beautiful there. My husband and I some day would like to take a cross country trip and Lake Tahoe has always been one of the places we would like to explore.

  14. Wow! I would love to go there! Taking a bike ride through that area would be awesome! I'm so glad you shared the pictures with us! They're beautiful!!!

  15. I have been to Squaw Valley, but we went skiing. We also stayed in Lake Tahoe, it was beautiful with the snow covering the mountains. One day, I'm going back.

  16. I love Lake Tahoe, its one of the most beautiful places I have been to. I think it would be hard to NOT have a great time there, but you chose a fantastic way to see the area.

  17. That sounds like so much fun!I've never been to Lake Tahoe, but I'd love to go someday. We are going to Grosse Pointe, Michigan this year, to visit my husband's uncle. He lives in a gorgeous neighborhood on the lake.

  18. We have never been, but it looks beautiful! No big trips planned here this summer, although we'd love to drive to Mt. Rushmore area. It all depends on budget, finishing up our yard at the new house and Scott being able to take time off from his new job. Otherwise, there are lots of day trip opportunities here in Minnesota that always promise to be beautiful (and there's usually a lake or water or some sort). Thanks for sharing your two trips to Lake Tahoe with us.Peace and blessings to your day.Jeanine

  19. Genny,Looks like you had a wonderful trip both times! I've been to Lake Tahoe, but it was years ago. That water is just incredible! We have hit the Southern states this summer. Very hot, but seeing lots of wonderful friends.Blessings to you,Melanie

  20. Ok, the kids are gonna be gone soon, so looks like Paul and I might just have to get our fannies on the same bike route. Thanks for the tip Genny! :O)
