Simplifying parenting (down to six little words)

Simplifying.

It’s good for the schedule.

It’s good for the environment.

It’s good for the soul.

I love it when things are simple and organized.

Like when that catch-all drawer in the kitchen is clean–with the paperclips in the paperclip box, the pens in the pen container, and the sunglasses, robot, and Barbie crown put away and NOT in the drawer.

It makes finding things easier.

Simpler.

So when I joined in on a blog meme a while ago where the assignment was to write a six word memoir, I thought it would be fun. I liked the idea of simplifying something down to six words.

I decided to focus mine on parenting.

Simple, right?

Well, not really.

Because how do you condense years of smiles and tears, milestones and memories, triumphs and trials, into six little words?

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it’s not the description or details of parenting that have affected me; it’s the experience of it…the way being a mom has touched my heart and changed me.

So here’s what I came up with…

Heartstrings connected for all eternity. Grateful.

Doing the six-word exercise was good for me.

It made me stop and think about what really matters.

Somehow, when I focus on the simple joys of parenting and how much I love my kids, the challenges that come with the territory fade into the background.

What about you? What would you say about parenting in six words?

Leave a comment and share. Yours can be sentimental, funny, or however you want to write it. Let’s have fun with this… I might use your comments in a future post or article!  :)
