New Readers–Introduce Yourself!

It’s been so fun being able to speak to so many mom’s groups lately and meet many new moms! Thank you for signing up for my newsletter and stopping by my blog!

Since some of you are relatively new around here, I wanted to take a minute to welcome you and give you an opportunity to introduce yourself. (Which is why I’m re-posting my “Welcome new readers!” post.)

Take a minute and share a little about yourself so others can get to know you and stop by your site if you have one. (Thanks Jennifer at Conversion Diary for this idea!) So glad you’re here!

Some things to share:

1. Where do you live? What’s your favorite thing about living there?

2. Do you have any kids and if so, how many? What parenting advice would you give in one sentence?

3. Do you have a blog? If so, what’s the name and URL? What do you typically write about?

4. Tell me a little more about yourself: your favorite food, your hobbies, your profession?

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say hi! I look forward to getting to know you!

p.s. This post was originally for a giveaway–which is why you’ll see the mention of it giveaway in some of the comments–but I learned so much about everyone in the comments that I wanted to save them and create an “introduce yourself” post. :)

Comments

  1. What a fun giveaway!!!We currently have 4 kids. One girl (age 6), twin boys (age 4) and baby boy (age almost 2). We are also in the process of adopting a little Girl from China and hoping to get our referral/picture of her sometime next spring!

  2. Hi Genny, fun giveaway! I have four kids under five years old and my life is constantly wild!

  3. Thank you for stopping by my blog and your kind words, every little bit helps right? Thanks again! :)

  4. I love your tender heart for moms Genny…. and your site is just so easy to gt around and lovely to be at!Blessings-Amanda

  5. Yay for a great giveaway! I have two children, ages 4 and 1. Life is never dull with these two!!!

  6. Ahhh – a week on a houseboat – someday we'll make that happen! Too fun! As for me – a boy, age 10 – going into 5th grade, and a girl, age 7, going into 2nd grade. One of my favorite sayings in parenting is "This too shall pass" – particularly in the itty bitty years when you wonder if they'll ever be out of diapers!

  7. I hopped on over from the comments on another blog to meet you.I have 2 kids! What a fun giveaway!

  8. Fun! I have 2 kids- boys 4 and 2 1/2 and waiting for a referral of a little girl from Korea any day!

  9. Not eligible for the giveaway, but here anyway :)I am a mum of 3 in N Ireland. Eldest daughter 11, about to start grammar school this friday. Middle daughter of 9, youngest is a wee red hair full of personality who starts school next Tuesday.I am a sahm/wahm – I digi-scrap for others (personalized gifts/cards) and now make handmade jewelery too.Looking forward to having a wee bit more "me" time for the first time in 11 years, with all kids in school.

  10. Interesting – lots of links, but not as many comments (yet!)My name is Missy and I have two little ones – a four year old son and a one year old daughter. I work full time out of the house – my blog is my biggest hobby. :)

  11. I have four children, daughters 18 and 9, and sons 15 and 6. I work full-time for my pastor and love my job!

  12. OK, so I have 6 kids. So…I decided to tell you about them in 6 separate comments. The first…my beautiful daughter, Kori, who is married and serving in the US Navy. She has one of the most brilliant minds I know and is great at video games. Kori loves roller coasters, bats, whales, and is afraid of the dark at 24. She will still snuggle with me, her Marmie.

  13. The second…my modelesque, tall girl, Kayla, or Meg (middle name) as I call her. She is currently in Cosmetology school and flying past most of her classmates because she has been doing hair for a few years. At 23, she is a gentle peacemaker who would do anything for anybody. An artist at heart, Meg is unique in all that she does. I love that she stays close to her family but shows a sense of independence.

  14. Number 3…Abigail (or Abbey) is 17 and totally independent. She is mostly focused on her studies; which is fine with me. Her friends are wonderful and keep her busy when she isn't in a book studying. I sometimes wish she would spend more time with me; I sort of miss her.My future doctor, Abbey will be a strong leader and solid woman of the future.

  15. Number 4…McKenna, my glamour girl. She loves the mirror, clothes, shoes, and make up. Her bedroom sustains a tornado touchdown every morning before school while she figures out what to wear.A keen artist, she hopes to have a career in fashion designing. I hope she does too; her sketches are fabulous! She's only 14, but I'm already having nightmares about her driving.

  16. Am I done yet? Oh, yeah, 2 more. My fifth child, Judah (the only boy) is my sweetheart. He loves his mom…and his X Box. At 12, he is just starting to become a young man who isn't quite interested in girls yet. I'm sure they are noticing him though; his sister cut his hair; it's worthy of a second look.

  17. And then came number 6, Lyric, my 14-month-old. The oven obviously wan't done baking muffins yet. She is so lucky to have a mom who has 24 years experience. I think she is going to be a singer/dancer or some kind of interpreter. I love snuggling with her in the morning after the other kids go to school. She took her first steps on Saturday – a joyous moment!

  18. Fun! I hope I win!I have 2 boys – CJ & TJ. CJ's the 5 month old always trying to shove 10 fingers in his mouth. TJ's the 3 year old who can't stop talking from sun up to sun down.My thoughts on Parenting? … Where do I start! I need sleep is #1!

  19. Found you via my friend's blog No Small Thing. I have 3 kids – a boy (8), a girl (6) and a boy (4). They keep my life busy and fun. I used to think I would be so excited to finally have some time to myself when they're finally all in school but now I'm thinking I'm not sure what I'll do.

  20. I'd love to introduce Backgammon to my niece. She already loves books but wish to get her more interactive. Nice site!

  21. My kids are 9, 7, 5 and my twins are 3. I've found that kids can be brutally honest. And, that they potty train when THEY are ready.I've been subscribed to your blog forever, and if I don't follow you on Twitter, I will in just a sec.

  22. I've got 2 chicas~22 & 19. Parenting style? Whatever works! Seriously, I tried treating them as adults, even from an early age. No baby talk in our house, except when we're talking to the cats. Some of this "style" must have stuck…my gals are great!

  23. Hey Genny Got ten kids; six boys 15,13,9,5,3,1 and four girls 18,17,11 & 7.My brain is hurting today when I use it so just use one of my bio's:Learning to love my other unconditionally, mother my babes extraordinarily, to live life passionately and fully, to work fun and laugh hard, exposing truth and finding freedom all while feeling the adoration of my Papa.

  24. I have 3 little ones. An 8 year old daughter, a 4 year old and very energetic son, and a 13 month old son.Hooray for giveaways :) !!

  25. 1st time visitor! Woo hoo! I popped over from Kristen's place. Can't wait to poke around some more.I'm a Mom of four kiddos, two girls, ages 15 and 4 and two boys, ages 8 and 12.My kids never seem to amaze me — their boundless energy, their love of all things imaginary, the funny things they say. I say, even though it's a hard job, I wouldn't trade it for anything~

  26. Okay, I apparently shouldn't be leaving comments at 12:27 — I meant to say "they never CEASE to amaze me!" MUST GO TO BED NOW!!!!

  27. Lovely giveaway Genny!I have 1 son who is now 10 years old and starting 5th grade in the morning! My hubby and I have found the most help with parenting from the Lord! It's also so nice to get advice from other experienced moms!

  28. Hi Genny! As you know, I have two beautiful little girls: a 5-month-old and an almost-3-year-old. Motherhood is an amazing journey and I love how being a mom "refines" my character and makes me a better person. I am always trying to be better…to be more…because I know that my girls are watching everything that I say and do.stephanie@metropolitanmama.net

  74. Hello! I just discovered your site on the 5 Minutes For Mom Wednesday link up! I live in GA and my favorite thing about the southeast is the short winters and long summers! We usually wear flip flops through October. In fact, it is gorgeous weather this week, mid 70s. I have four children. Parenting advice? I don't considered myself qualified to extend advice – LOL. I'm still learning every day! My blog is https://www.obeyingheart.com. I write about living faithfully and courageously, and homeschooling. Sometimes I throw in an easy recipe or two. I'm attempting to venture into a home-based business where I collect images (both old and digital) and compile the precious photos into video keepsakes. My business is Memories by Obeying Heart. I'm currently remaking a video for my mother as a birthday gift and another as a baby gift. They are fun to make and I love extending the warm fuzzy feelings to parents, grandparents, and friends. Besides all that, I love to read, mostly nonfiction right now. One of my favorite parts about homeschooling is all the fabulous read-aloud books that we've done in two short years. We just began THE HOBBIT. Very awesome that I can read books I missed in my own childhood! Thank you for extending this invitation to share information with readers. I look forward to returning to your blog often!

  75. Hi Genny- I am Allison. I live in Roseville and I just joined the writing group here with Lisa! I used to work full time for a “global computer company” too (Intel) and left to be home with my kids in 2009. I have two boys- 5 and almost 8. I write a blog (www.getnatured.com) that started as a healthy living blog. Many of my posts have been food-related in the past, but I’m getting away from that and focusing on other aspects of healthy living now. I just launched a series called The Winter Project that will go through the end of February. I will be sharing my “bag of tricks for staying buoyant” (as I call it) for fending off the winter blues. Nice to “meet” you! :-)

  76. Hello Genny! I’m coming to via Holley Gerth’s God-sized dream book. Recently I retired from public education after nearly 30 years. I like to say that I’ve done just about everything except coach a sport and drive a bus, and we’re all really happy about both of those. My husband, Tom, and I are blessed with 3 grown children, 2 amazing granddaughters, and 2 very spoiled cats. Tom and I both come from carpenters’ families, and our first jobs were at camps (Boy Scout and Camp Fire Girls). We were made to be together! All 3 of our children are talented artists, writer, musician, and visual artist. Not sure where those qualities came from, must have been their talented grandparents. We love Jesus, each other, and our family. And I love writing! Thanks for welcoming me to your website. Look forward to exploring and enjoying it.
