A couple of exciting writing / book events!

It’s hard to believe that our annual Northern California SCBWI Spring Spirit conference is just a couple weeks away (April 2nd)! I’m really excited.

(For those of you who might be new to my blog, SCBWI stands for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and I volunteer as the Assistant Regional Advisor for the organization in my area. If you want to read about last year’s conference and see pictures, click here.)

I’m looking forward to speaking again this year about The Nuts and Bolts of Writing and Illustrating for Children, and spending the day with so many wonderful writers and illustrators. If you’re coming to the conference, be sure to say hi while you’re there! And if not, I’ll take photos and post about it afterwards. We’ve got an great lineup of speakers and an exciting day planned.

And here’s something else exciting: The day before the conference, one of our speakers (an award winning children’s book author), Bruce Coville, will be reading and signing his books at a local bookfair.

Here are the details:

Hosted by the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, the Barnes & Noble Bookfair kicks off with readings and a book signing by children’s author Bruce Coville and author/illustrator Dominic Catalano.

Bruce Coville is the author of 95 books for children and young adults, including the international bestseller MY TEACHER IS AN ALIEN, and the wildly popular UNICORN CHRONICLES series. He has more than 12 million copies in print.

Dominic Catalano has written and illustrated several books for young readers, and illustrated more than a dozen children’s books for other authors, among them the popular “Bernard” series written by Joan Elizabeth Goodman and the “Basil Bear” series by Marilyn J. Woody.

Readings and book signing held on April 1st from 3:30-5:30pm at Barnes & Noble, 6111 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights. Additional information can be found at: https://www.scbwi.org/Regional-Chapters.aspx?R=5&sec=News

I hope to see all you writers and illustrators (and those of you who are interested in learning how to get started), at an event soon!
