Three things our kids need to hear us say – Week 2

Words are powerful.

Especially the words of a mom.

So today, on Valentine’s Day, I’m continuing my three week series on  breathing love and encouragement into our kids through our words…

Three things our kids need to hear us say:

1. Your greatest strength isn’t in what you look like or what you do; it is in who you are.

2. No mistake you make, no rule you break, and nothing you do or don’t do could change my love for you. I’m your mom and I’ll always love you.

3. Do the thing that makes your heart sing.

Come back next week for the last post of this series!

What about you? What have you been saying to your kids lately? Take a minute and share your thoughts.

  1. "Do the thing that makes your heart sing". Love this one. I've been struggling with my kiddos lately, and haven't been all too encouraging. I have told them I love them though!!

  2. So true! Unconditional Love is sometimes tough. It is not a reward-system kind of love! It is what True Love really is!

  3. I always tell my boys, it's not about being the best, it's about doing your best. That is all anyone including yourself can ask. I read some where that for every one negative thing they hear it takes five positive things to wipe it away. Makes me think before I say something.

  4. I have been focusing on "how" I say it more than what I say. I usually get so frustrated in the midst of our busy schedules that I began noticing myself yelling more and more each day. So on Friday I sat down with my son & told him I would no longer yell. It was a tough few days but my quiet firm voice has been doing wonders for my family & I notice everyone is happier especially mommy!! I love this series!!

  5. I know a mom who could benefit so much from these words…and a teenage daughter who would be more than happy for her mother to hear/read them as well.Peace and blessings.Jeanine

  6. Amen! Each night before bed I tell my children one by one, "You are a beautiful, wonderful child of God and mom and dad love you, always and forever, no matter what." Their little souls just soak it up. I'm a new follower from MBC…stop by for a visit and return the favor.
