A Mom With Courage…
I came home from the benefit concert and went straight to my daughter’s room.
I stood over her bed, grateful.
There she slept,
peaceful,
safe.
I looked around her room.
The light from her fish tank dimly lit the face of her stuffed bear. On her dresser, there were pictures of her friends, and in the corner by her nightstand, her dollhouse.
Eleven years old.
Eleven.
I thought about the girls I’d just heard about at the concert.
One of them was eleven too.
I sat down on the edge of my daughter’s bed and cried.
And I knew it wasn’t an accident that I was invited to the concert and asked to write this article about Jenny Williamson and her Courage House—a house for girls who don’t have a safe place to call home.
As a mom, I was supposed to somehow get involved.
Because there are kids out there—in our world, our country, even our own cities and towns—who need us.

I so understand – especially now with my oldest moved out. It goes by so fast. I am so grateful my 11yr old daughter Grace is still at home, snuggled up under her patchwork quilt, clutching her baby doll right now.These moments are fleeting. One never thinks that these types of issues happen in our own back yard. We hear of it happening in other countries around the world…but here? In the good old US of A? It's heart-wrenching that these children are used in such a horrific way. Those tears of yours are certainly justified…and shared.Peace and blessings to your day.Jeanine

I keep hearing about this issue. Last September, I heard about child trafficking overseas. 2 weeks ago, I heard about it in the Bay Area by a survivor. She's started speaking at churches to raise awareness through her nonprofit organization.
