New Readers–Introduce Yourself!

Welcome new readers! I’m glad you’re here. Please take a minute to introduce yourself, so others can get to know you and stop by your site if you have one. (Thanks Jennifer at Conversion Diary for this idea!)

Some things to share:

1. Where do you live? What’s your favorite thing about living there?

2. Do you have any kids and if so, how many? What parenting advice would you give in one sentence?

3. Do you have a blog? If so, what’s the name and URL? What do you typically write about?

4. Tell me a little more about yourself: your favorite food, your hobbies, your profession?

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say hi! I look forward to getting to know you!

p.s. This post was originally for a giveaway–which is why you’ll see the mention of it giveaway in some of the comments–but I learned so much about everyone in the comments that I wanted to save them and create an “introduce yourself” post. :)

Ahhh – a week on a houseboat – someday we'll make that happen! Too fun! As for me – a boy, age 10 – going into 5th grade, and a girl, age 7, going into 2nd grade. One of my favorite sayings in parenting is "This too shall pass" – particularly in the itty bitty years when you wonder if they'll ever be out of diapers!

Hi Genny!I am officially following you on Twitter. Kellie

  • http://www.womenslifelink.com KellieS

OK, so I have 6 kids. So…I decided to tell you about them in 6 separate comments. The first…my beautiful daughter, Kori, who is married and serving in the US Navy. She has one of the most brilliant minds I know and is great at video games. Kori loves roller coasters, bats, whales, and is afraid of the dark at 24. She will still snuggle with me, her Marmie.

  • http://www.womenslifelink.com KellieS

The second…my modelesque, tall girl, Kayla, or Meg (middle name) as I call her. She is currently in Cosmetology school and flying past most of her classmates because she has been doing hair for a few years. At 23, she is a gentle peacemaker who would do anything for anybody. An artist at heart, Meg is unique in all that she does. I love that she stays close to her family but shows a sense of independence.

  • http://www.womenslifelink.com KellieS

Number 3…Abigail (or Abbey) is 17 and totally independent. She is mostly focused on her studies; which is fine with me. Her friends are wonderful and keep her busy when she isn't in a book studying. I sometimes wish she would spend more time with me; I sort of miss her.My future doctor, Abbey will be a strong leader and solid woman of the future.

  • http://www.womenslifelink.com KellieS

Number 4…McKenna, my glamour girl. She loves the mirror, clothes, shoes, and make up. Her bedroom sustains a tornado touchdown every morning before school while she figures out what to wear.A keen artist, she hopes to have a career in fashion designing. I hope she does too; her sketches are fabulous! She's only 14, but I'm already having nightmares about her driving.

  • http://www.womenslifelink.com KellieS

Am I done yet? Oh, yeah, 2 more. My fifth child, Judah (the only boy) is my sweetheart. He loves his mom…and his X Box. At 12, he is just starting to become a young man who isn't quite interested in girls yet. I'm sure they are noticing him though; his sister cut his hair; it's worthy of a second look.

I'm not participating in this giveaway since I'm not a US resident but wanted to say hello anyways. Thank you for passing by my blog.

  • http://www.womenslifelink.com KellieS

And then came number 6, Lyric, my 14-month-old. The oven obviously wan't done baking muffins yet. She is so lucky to have a mom who has 24 years experience. I think she is going to be a singer/dancer or some kind of interpreter. I love snuggling with her in the morning after the other kids go to school. She took her first steps on Saturday – a joyous moment!

HI Genny! I'm Kristin and I live in Jacksonville, FL right near the Mayo Clinic where my husband had a liver transplant Dec 23rd, 2005. I like living here because this is where I can help other transplant patients going through what we went through & we don't get snow!I don't have children, but I love them dearly.I blog every day at http://www.ttelroc.blogspot.com – called The Goat. I talk about things I love. Whether it's a palm tree or my nieces or things I find interesting. It's an eclectic mix of things, but always family friendly.I'm really getting into photography. So much so that I'm going to start my own Etsy shop in the next few weeks. I rent furnished condos, that I own, to people going through Heart, Lung or Liver transplants. I love my family and I live 1200 miles away from them, but because of the internet I am blessed to be an active part of their lives. Thank you Genny. I'm so happy that you have started blogging again!Kristin – The Goat

Parenting advice in one sentance…wow… :) Um, Discipline and Love go hand in hand, write down memories as they happen and take lots of pictures.3. I have 3 blogs. My main blog is a mish-mash of life happenings, crafts, scripture, silly stories, music, etc… I also have a cooking blog and a 365 photo blog which you can get to from my main blog: http://happywife-mrsc.blogspot.com/4. Food, salad and chocolate (not necessarily in that order, lol). Hobbies, MANY, I make cakes, love gardening, sewing, cooking, crafting. I am blessed to stay home and take care of my wonderful hubby and home. :)

Hello there!I'm a mom of 2 – a 4mo old girl and a 2yr old boy. We live in Vancouver, BC. I JUST started blogging and the address is http://imfindingmyweigh.blogspot.com. The best parenting advice I can think of is to remember to laugh. Even through the sleep training, the screaming, the wet underpants…children are a gift and a darn funny one at that!

Your post about the mom's patience really touched me this morning. Thank you! I live in Ohio in a suburb outside of Dayton. What do I love most about living here? Hmmm…I think it's that the Lord has given us everything we need and so much more here. Our church, great thrift stores, fantastic quilt shops, beautiful parks, and an amazing library just around the corner from us.I've just started my blog called Busy 'Lil Homemaker. I write about a little bit of everything, but hope to use it to share what the Lord is doing in our lives and to share tips for other moms. I'd love it if you'd stop by! http://busylilhomemaker.blogspot.comWhat do I enjoy? When I am not writing or doing school with our girls, I love piecing quilts, reading, spending time with my husband, friends, and baking. Susan

Hi, my name is Jeaneth and I have three beautiful children. We live in Guatemala City, Central America. We have the best coffee in the whole world; therefore, I love drinking coffee with my friends. My oldest daughter is 14, Daniella is almost 9 and Edgar Emilio is almost 7 years old. Being a mom is something that I enjoy and sometimes I feel like running away from. My youngest is Autistic which is something that takes a lot of my time and energy, I enjoy doing both. My only advice: enjoy your children while you have them at home and get tones of patience!!!

    1. I live in Oakland, CA. I love it here. I was actually born here and then after lots of moving around I grew up in Santa Cruz. I never thought I would move back to Oakland, but a job and my boyfriend (now husband) were both here. It's extremely diverse and close to everything–city, beach, mountains.2. I have two girls under two. Parenting advice: drink lots of coffee and don't take the tantrums personally.3. My blog is called papoe, which is what my daughter calls the game peek-a-boo. http://www.papoe.typepad.com I write/rant about my life as a wife and mother. I've also just started a page on it called "Manic Monday" which is about how songs/albums make you reflect on certain moments/events/times in your life.4. I work part-time as a nonprofit program director, mostly doing grant writing. I love sushi and chinese food, and anything fried. Other than my new hobby of blogging, I like to watch baseball, watch movies, television, and in my life before kids, I read a lot.

Hi, My name is Melissa. I am a new blogger. I am a married mom of two wonderful kids ages 2 and 5. I live in Rocklin, California and came across an article you wrote in Sacaramento parent. Your blog sounded interesting and I thought I'd take a look. I love your blog by the way. I am a pediatrician turned stay at home mom and I call this phase of my life my "on the job" training. I've decided to blog about it sharing relevant and hopefully interesting antecdotes or parenting, health and safety issues we all face as moms. My blog is titled "Confessions of a Dr. Mom" and you can find it at http://mommamd4two.blogspot.com/. Thanks so much for having such a welcoming and entertaining blog. I am a follower! :-)

    1. I live in Central PA. Favorite part? Fall. I'm originally from Ohio where fall turns the leaves in our yards yellow or brown, with the rare red and orange. Here in PA, the landscape becomes brilliant colors of yellow, orange, red, and purple. You look at the mountains and think, wow God is awesome.2. I have a 3 month old son. Parenting advice: When you want to put you baby down, hold him for 3 more minutes and enjoy him.3. I do blog. http://www.imitationofmary.blogspot.comI write about my experience as wife and mother. I also am reading "The Imitation of Mary" and reflect on that.4. I love potatoes, and recently discovered the joys of white fish. I like photography, but am lacking a good camera due to a dropping accident 2 years ago. I am a former pre-school teacher, and now SAHM.

    1. I live in NY, not the city. I don't like living here. There's just not enough diversity. But it's peaceful and scenic.2. I have two children. My advice to parents is to let them eat cake, they will only be children for a short period of time.3.I have two blogs. In her own words: ihow2010.blogspot.com/ MommyHooD: http://mommyhd.blogspot.com/one is just a personal blog and the other is more mommy focused.I'm a SAHM and student. I love to write short stories. Check out Creative Endeavors section on my personal blog to see if I'm any good. lol.

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/06036419557376910460 Sandy S.

    1) I live in Bellevue, WA, hoping to move out a little into the country soon. I guess my favorite thing about living here is that we're closer to family…we were an hour long drive from everyone before we moved, now we're about 20-30 minutes!2) I have one son who just turned 3. Advice in one sentence would be "Be the parent and set the rules, the kid isn't supposed to run the house!"3) I do have a blog. Suddenly Sandy http://suddenlysandy.com Right now I write about pretty much anything and everything…someday I'd like to do reviews and giveaways, I'm trying to get some structure to my blogging!4) I'm a stay at home mom, I love to read. My husband is a mortgage broker who works from home, so he tends to keep me busy with admin tasks when I'm not being a mom/wife. I enjoy sewing when I have someone who knows what they are doing helping me, I like to knit and am a nut about cleaning and organizing.

  • http://www.obeyingheart.com Carrie

Hello! I just discovered your site on the 5 Minutes For Mom Wednesday link up! I live in GA and my favorite thing about the southeast is the short winters and long summers! We usually wear flip flops through October. In fact, it is gorgeous weather this week, mid 70s. I have four children. Parenting advice? I don't considered myself qualified to extend advice – LOL. I'm still learning every day! My blog is http://www.obeyingheart.com. I write about living faithfully and courageously, and homeschooling. Sometimes I throw in an easy recipe or two. I'm attempting to venture into a home-based business where I collect images (both old and digital) and compile the precious photos into video keepsakes. My business is Memories by Obeying Heart. I'm currently remaking a video for my mother as a birthday gift and another as a baby gift. They are fun to make and I love extending the warm fuzzy feelings to parents, grandparents, and friends. Besides all that, I love to read, mostly nonfiction right now. One of my favorite parts about homeschooling is all the fabulous read-aloud books that we've done in two short years. We just began THE HOBBIT. Very awesome that I can read books I missed in my own childhood! Thank you for extending this invitation to share information with readers. I look forward to returning to your blog often!
